Boycotting Israeli Products: Responsibilities and Actions of the Muslim World
In the current world, when Israeli oppression in Palestine is increasing day by day, a question has come to the fore for the Muslim Ummah—how can we protest it? Although we do not have the power to wage direct war or political intervention, we have a powerful tool in our hands—boycott.
Significance of Boycotting Israeli Products
Israel mainly gets a large part of its economic power through product exports. Various countries around the world, especially Muslim-majority countries, are constantly using products from Israeli or Israeli-supported companies—unknowingly, we are paying money that is later used to bloodbath the Palestinian soil.
Which products and companies are associated with Israel?
Below are the names of some of the companies that have been identified as supporting Israel or directly/indirectly involved in the Israeli economy:
Coca-Cola
Nestlé
McDonald’s
PepsiCo
Starbucks
Intel
HP (Hewlett-Packard)
Puma
Unilever (Fair & Lovely, Dove, Sunsilk, etc.)
KFC, Pizza Hut, Burger King
In addition to these, there are many other products that we are unknowingly contributing to the massacre of Palestine by buying.
What Muslims can do
1. Choose alternatives: Choose products from local and halal certified companies.
2. Spread awareness: Tell your family, friends, and neighbors about this.
3. Be active on social media: Spread the campaign to boycott Israeli products.
4. Pray: Along with boycotting, our duty is to pray for the Palestinians in the court of Allah.
Positive Impact of Boycott Movement
Already, the share prices of some companies have decreased due to boycotts of Israeli products in various countries. Anger is being expressed among Muslims against brands like Starbucks and McDonald's. This shows that boycotts can effectively create pressure.
Finally
To remain silent against Israeli aggression means to stand on the side of injustice. So, let us all stand on the side of innocent Palestinians by boycotting Israeli products.
This small sacrifice of ours can be a source of great strength for them.
